Testing, Testing, one, two, one, two...

Hello there and welcome to my first ever blog! In saying this however, I may just be typing to myself as I am not 100% sure on how to do this whole blogging thing so fingers crossed it works :)

I received my BAPP RoL results this morning and I could not be any happier because I gained all of the necessary credits in order to begin on the BAPP course in September.

Anyway, this was mainly just a 'test blog' but I am sure I will be blogging a whole lot more soon so watch this space!

Welcome to my life...

This is one of my all time favourite quotes and opitomises how I live my life, whether in work or play, I always seek out and create new opportunities to push myself further and discover new adventures.

I trained from a very young age in all aspects of performing arts at a local theatre school, followed then by completing a BTEC in Performing Arts; Musical Theatre in my hometown. From here I gained a place at Italia Conti and trained up until the age of twenty one in Musical Theatre, whilst at the same time completing ISTD teacher training qualifications.

Although I had always thought I wanted to perform after graduation, during my time training I was offered the opportunity to work at a childrens theatre school teaching dance, drama and musical theatre. I absolutely loved it and found I excelled as a teacher, so much so that upon graduating, I was presented with the 'Most Promising Teacher' accolade.

After graduation, I continued to teach at the theatre school and felt happy in my role, although watching many of my peers fullfilling performing contracts I now considered that I was missing out. I auditoned for a pantomime six months after graduation and was offered the lead in Cinderella for a Christmas contract. From here I continued auditioning and luckily walked from one contract to the next for four consecutive years, working for companies such as Merlin, TED UK and my dream company Disney. These contracts were for a variety of roles from singer/dancer to actress to host/presenter and even the odd skin character for good measure. These contracts allowed me the freedom to travel to many countries including the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico and the USA and meet some amazing people with incredible stories.

At the end of two years of travelling I decided I wanted to have a base again moved back to London to head back in to teaching, now adorned with a wealth of professional industry experience and knowledge to better my teaching.

And that brings us up to present day, where I am currently combining single day performance event jobs with teaching after school and weekends. Right now I am focussing on my teaching career, hopefully gaining a full BA Degree qualification and completing a PGCE afterwards, but who is to say what is waiting behind the next door?
